Every journey starts at the beginning. Getting started, and taking that first step is sometimes daunting. Especially when you have no clue about what might be ahead! But regardless of whether you know what's coming or not, a challenge is a valuable thing. Win, lose or draw there's so much to be gained by simply stepping up to the mark. Our favorite coach decided to put his faith in the process, and he leaned into the uncertainty. He didn't really know what to expect at the time but 8 years late he knows his life changed the moment he registered for the 2014 CrossFit Open. Now he's paying it forward.

So, every Monday at 9:00AM for five weeks I turned up with my coach and did the open workouts. What I got out of those 5 weeks, besides complete exhaustion, was a few important things. Like You can get a few more reps when you think you can't! And you can breathe when you think your drowning !!! But more importantly I found my Why, as in Why I do CrossFit. This year will be my eighth Open and no different to any other. Still anxious and excited!
